Step To It

Last year’s Steppin’ Out Gala drew a crowd of more than 3000 decked-out guests to raise funds and awareness for Roxbury’s Dimock Center. And on November 8 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., they’re doing it all over again. Tickets ($200; $350 for sponsors and $100 for seniors) for the 21st annual jazz soiree are available by calling 866.468.7619 or at the Dimock Center (55 Dimock Street, Roxbury, 617.442.8800, ext 1006) itself. The musical lineup of nearly 20 acts includes headliner and R&B singer Lalah Hathaway, saxophonist Andre Ward, former Broadway Dreamgirl Julia Nixon, and the 12-piece funk, reggae, and R&B band the Berklee City Music All Stars. Step into your dancing shoes and step out to the Westin Boston Waterfront (425 Summer Street, Boston, 617.532.4600) for an evening of good company, great music, and all that jazz.
