Friday, November 7 & 14: Republic Fridays

We know: now that the swirl of the presidential election has settled down a bit, the last thing you want to do is talk politics. Which is why we have to say thanks to Felt (533 Washington Street, Boston, 617.350.5555) for offering an alternative way to show our American pride: drinking and dancing at Republic Fridays. DJ Rick Rude spins Top 40 hits, mainstream dance music, rock, and pretty much anything else you can move to. There’s no cover charge for this 21-plus event, and the party runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Want to do your patriotic duty and boost the economy? Buy a drink and propose a toast — to the Republic, of course.

Model behavior

Modeling since age 10 and running a fashion-consulting and public-relations business since she was in college, Polina Raygorodskaya is nothing if not ambitious. The Newton resident and owner of Polina Fashion produces fashion shows and handles PR for a number of up-and-coming businesses, including photographer David Alsdorf. These days, she does more producing than modeling, though she still embraces the jet-set life and travels weekly. But when she’s home, she likes to keep things low-key, palling around with friends over good beers and a game of pool.
